The Texas Digital Library (TDL) Innovative Outreach Award will honor an individual or team that demonstrates a creative and successful approach to reaching new users and building awareness of an organization’s digital library.
Innovative outreach can include, but is not limited to, the following areas:
Marketing and outreach campaigns that include print, electronic, and other forms of communication to promote a digital library and build awareness among various types of users, including both viewers of and contributors to an institutional repository or digital collection
Promotional events that showcase a digital library to potential audiences and user groups
Statistical analyses, surveys, and other types of documentation that illustrate outcomes, or ways in which digital libraries are being used to change fields of study and/or people’s lives
Inventive methods of creating support for a digital library effort within an organization that have led to heightened recognition and/or increased resources for the project or unit
Nominations are open to individuals or groups from Texas academic libraries as well as institutions or groups in partnerships with Texas academic libraries. Individuals nominated for this award must have been employed by an academic library at the time the work was created. Self-nominations are accepted.
Award recipients will receive one complimentary registration per group/awardee for the 2017 Texas Conference on Digital Libraries (TCDL) May 23-25 in Austin, and be honored at the TCDL Conference Reception.
The 2017 TDL Awards Committee will review nominations for the Innovative Outreach Award based on the following three areas:
- Significance and outcome
- Clarity and organization of application
Nominations should be between 500 – 1,500 words, not including any supporting documentation.
