TDL Faculty Services

As part of its mission to support a fully online scholarly community in the state, the Texas Digital Library provides online scholarly communication services to faculty members at its member institutions. These services provide opportunities for discussing, documenting, and publishing original scholarship in a variety of digital formats.

To access these services, faculty members at participating institutions can go to the TDL Services Request System, where they can log in using their university ID and password and automatically set up a blog or wiki, or request assistance with establishing an electronic journal.

TDL Electronic Journals

The Texas Digital Library offers support for publishing fully online, peer-reviewed journals. This service includes a complete workflow system for article submission, peer review, and editing that is fully Web-based and designed to facilitate the de-centralized collaboration of the peer review process. This less expensive alternative to traditional publishing provides additional opportunities for information-sharing, particularly within specialized disciplines and emerging fields of study. TDL Electronic Journals are open access, viewable by the public at no cost. Faculty members at TDL member institutions who are interested in exploring an online journal can request assistance through the TDL Services Request System.

TDL Scholarly Blogs

TDL member faculty may share their work, latest news in their fields, excerpts from writing in progress, and other information through a TDL Scholarly Blog.  To request a blog, TDL member faculty may visit the  TDL Services Request System.

TDL Research Wikis

For those needing a tool to share information among groups such as project teams or discipline specialists, the TDL offers TDL Research Wikis. With shared editing capability and an easy-to-use interface, wikis provide a quick way to publish information to the group or to the world. Faculty members at TDL institutions may go to the  TDL Services Request System to set up a wiki and begin editing.

TDL Faculty Directory

Faculty members at TDL institutions can create their own homepages — complete with biographical and professional information, as well as links to their other online work — in the TDL Faculty Directory.
