Research Access Bill Proposed

New bill in Congress would require research findings to be deposited in digital repositories

U.S. Senators Cornyn and Lieberman Introduce the Federal Research Public Access Act of 2006

On May 2, 2006, Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) introduced the bipartisan Federal Research Public Access Act of 2006, co-sponsored by Senator Joe Lieberman (D-CT). If passed, the bill would improve taxpayer access to federally-funded research by requiring federal agencies with annual budgets exceeding $100,000 to ensure their research is preserved in a stable, public-access digital repository.
