StaffTDL Organization and Staffing Texas Digital Library Organization and StaffingTDL Core Staff | TDL Working Groups | TDL Bridge Groups | Governing Board | CIO Advisory Board | Faculty Advisory Committee The Texas Digital Library (TDL) is staffed by a combination of full-time core staff members and part-time expert contributors from TDL member institutions. Each of the groups is described below, and a list of key staff members is provided in the TDL staff directory.
TDL Core StaffThe TDL is headed by two co-directors, John Leggett and Mark McFarland, who are responsible for the organization’s vision, direction, and day-to-day operations. The TDL employs several full-time staff members, including both TDL-funded positions and full-time staff contributions from member institutions. This core staff focuses largely on the TDL’s technical infrastructure, developing and maintaining software and hardware systems, while also providing overall planning and communications for the organization. TDL Working GroupsTDL working groups provide domain expertise in the areas of policy and standards development. Whereas the core staff provides technical skills, the working groups provide a library and information management perspective on TDL services. Membership is comprised of individuals from member institutions, chosen for their knowledge in a given field. Currently there are four TDL working groups, listed below. For more information about the working groups and their membership, please contact the chair or the TDL project manager.
TDL Bridge GroupsBridge groups communicate and interpret the work of the TDL for their local institutions and guide the integration of their institutional repositories with the TDL. Thus bridge groups are comprised of staff from a single TDL member institution, and the group’s focus is upon local issues rather than TDL-wide initiatives. Nevertheless, the bridge groups' role is fundamental to the success of the TDL, in that it is through these groups that the TDL’s mission is aligned with that of each individual university. Current bridge groups are listed below. For more information about the bridge groups, please contact the chair or the TDL project manager.
Governing BoardThe TDL Governing Board is comprised of library deans and directors from seven TDL institutions. The group provides advice, guidance, and a long-term perspective on the services and administration of the Texas Digital Library. Current members are:
CIO Advisory BoardThe TDL CIO Advisory Board was formed to provide input on issues and directions in information technology within higher education. Currently the group is made up of nine members from Texas colleges and universities:
Faculty Advisory CommitteeThis group is scheduled to be formed in 2008. It will be comprised of selected faculty from TDL member institutions, who will serve as advisors regarding TDL faculty services and outreach.
