In this course, learners receive instruction on the use, support, and promotion of wikis for scholarly and instructional purposes. Students gain hands-on experience using MediaWiki, the open-source software employed by the TDL Research Wiki service.
The following topics are covered in this course:
- Creating and editing wiki pages
- Formatting text using wikitext and a WYSIWYG editor
- Connecting pages with links
- Using and formatting images
- Using templates
- Namespaces
- Special pages
This course is intended for university staff, librarians, and TDL members wishing to provide support for wikis to institutions’ faculty and staff. Individual faculty and staff members interested in setting up a wiki are also encouraged to attend.
