TDL training sessions added for October

Sign up now for fall training sessions with the Texas Digital Library! On October 22, the TDL will be offering courses on ETD management with Vireo and using wikis and blogs for scholarly communication. All training sessions will take place at Baylor University in Waco. Training

The following courses will be offered on October 22:

ETD Management with Vireo

Time: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Cost: $50

This course will provide an overview of Vireo , as well as hands-on practice using the system to shepherd a thesis or dissertation through the entire workflow of the ETD process. A participant will submit a thesis using the student submittal interface, then process and approve the document using the staff administrative interface. Finally, they will see the finalized document published in the testbed repository set up for the class.

Development, Maintenance, and Use of Wikis in a Scholarly Environment

Time: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Cost: $25

This course will get learners up to speed on how they can use, support, and promote use of wikis for scholarly and instructional purposes. Learners will develop and test Wikis and become familiar with the MediaWiki environment.

Creating and Managing Blogs with TDL

Time: 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Cost: $25

Learners will become familiar with the use, support, and promotion of blogs for scholarly and instructional purposes in academic institutions. Learners will explore how to manage a blog site, moderate comments, manage discussion and utilize blogs in their environment.
