Texas ETD Association annual meeting – June 16

From the Texas ETD Association blog:

Mark you calendars for June 16, 2010, to attend the annual Texas ETD Association meeting. This year’s meeting will be held in conjunction with NDLTD’s ETD 2010 conference in Austin, Texas. The meeting is listed as one of the pre-conference workshops offered through the ETD 2010 conference, between 9am and noon. Conference attendees can attend this pre-conference workshop at no cost; however, those solely attending the half-day meeting will need to pay a reasonable $25 dollar fee to assist with space and refreshment costs.

Session presenters include Ed Fox, John Hagen, Gail Clement, Angela McCutcheon, Geneva Henry, Gail McMillan, and Sharon Reeves; all leaders in the ETD field. Session presenters will address how to create a highly functional ETD office; debate the issues with respect to fostering innovation vs. enabling long term preservation of ETDs; identify matters of importance for retrospective digitization projects; and, share their sagest advice from years in the field. Participants will have an opportunity to gain practical advice from ETD and NDLTD leaders, as well as consider tools and ideas that may be implemented at their own institutions.

To register for the pre-conference workshop and/or the full conference, or to see the full session description, visit the ETD 2010 registration page.

Please note that the annual meeting is an event separate from the Vireo Users Group meeting to be held one day following the Texas Conference on Digital Libraries, on May 19. That meeting will be hosted by Laura Hammons, Director the Thesis and Dissertation office at Texas A&M University, and Jason Thomale, Metadata Librarian at Texas Tech University.

The planned agenda for the Vireo Users Group meeting includes:

  • Welcome and Introductions
  • State of Vireo Presentation
  • User Feedback
  • Informational Session
  • Report from Institutions, Status of Vireo Implementation

The Vireo Users Group meeting is free of charge. Those interested in attending should contact the TDL program coordinator at info@tdl.org.
