Training on online journal system offered in October

UPDATE: The training session “Online Conference Management with OCS” scheduled for October 20, 2010, has been cancelled. Another session of the course will be scheduled for spring 2011.

The Texas Digital Library will offer training courses in October focused on two of its most popular scholarly communications services. Both courses will take place at TDL member Baylor University, which provides facilities, as well as registration and logistics services, for all TDL training activities.

Date: October 20, 2010 (Wednesday)
Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Cost: $50

In this course, participants will learn how to manage an academic conference online using open-source Open Conference Systems software.

Online Scholarly Journals Using OJS

Date: October 21, 2010 (Thursday)
Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Cost: $50

In this course, participants gain an overview of the process for creating and configuring an Electronic Journal, as well as the editorial steps for producing an issue of the journal.

The classes are open to staff and faculty from TDL member institutions and are recommended for librarians and others interested in supporting these services for faculty and staff at their campuses. Individual faculty members who are beginning their own journals or conference websites through TDL are also encouraged to attend.
