USETDA Conference
TDL Program Coordinator Ryan Steans represented the Texas Digital Library at the US ETD Association Conference, held in Boston June 13-15. The conference welcomed professionals from graduate schools, libraries, and other academic units working with electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs).
The theme of the conference was “USETDA 2012: A revolution in scholarship – A commonwealth of knowledge.”
He co-presented with Caitlin Nelson from the Florida Center for Library Automation on “Statewide Collaboration in ETDs.” Steans’ portion of the presentation focused on TDL collaboration around Vireo, the open-source ETD submission and management software developed by TDL, and the TDL Federated ETD Collection. That collaboration, which takes place largely through the TDL-sponsored Vireo Users Group, is an integral part of TDL’s collaborative and consortial nature, Steans said.
”Vireo continues to be a leader in the area of ETD tools,” Steans said, “and the USETDA Conference provided great opportunities for making connections that might grow the Vireo community.”
