TDL forms Texas-focused DSpace Users Group

DSpace logoThe Texas Digital Library (TDL) is pleased to announce that it is forming a TDL DSpace Users Group for anyone in Texas currently using or interested in DSpace repository software.

The TDL hosts DSpace for many of its members, providing a means for archiving and disseminating scholarly work and special collections online.

This open group is chaired by Mira Greene, Head of Technical Services at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Currently, the group centers around the TDL DSpace Users Group Email List, which Mira will facilitate.

The email list provides:

  • a forum for discussion and mutual support on issues of concern to the DSpace users community
  • a means for the TDL to update members on upgrades, training opportunities, and other DSpace-related work of the TDL staff, and
  • a channel for rebroadcasting any DuraSpace news related to the DSpace software to the Texas DSpace community

Out of this broad community, the TDL hopes to form working groups to take on repository-related projects that can benefit the TDL consortium and the state’s academic libraries.

Anyone wanting to be added to the list can use the “Subscribe” feature at this link, or may simply email info@tdl.org with the request. Anyone with an interest in these issues – whether librarian, technologist, or support staff – is encouraged to subscribe to the list and participate in discussions there.
