TDL Organizational Announcement

TDL Executive Director Debra Hanken Kurtz will depart the Texas Digital Library (TDL), effective February 13, 2015, to serve as the next CEO of DuraSpace.

In serving as the TDL’s first full-time executive director, Hanken Kurtz has made significant contributions to ensure the organization’s financial sustainability and to make the TDL a crucial asset to the academic libraries of Texas. Her many accomplishments since joining the TDL in 2013 include the successful recruitment of six new member libraries and the creation of preservation services for TDL member libraries (DuraCloudTM @TDL) and the piloting of “First Node” ingestion services for the nationwide Digital Preservation Network (DPN).

Debra will remain in the Austin area, which she now considers home.  As she moves on to her new role with DuraSpace, she looks forward to continuing to work with the TDL and its membership on DSpace and related data curation and preservation efforts.

The TDL Governing Board will work closely with the TDL staff to manage the transition, and a search for a new leader of the TDL will be launched shortly.
