Everyone who participates in research shares responsibility for ensuring integrity throughout the research cycle. This two-part workshop series is designed for library and information science professionals who conduct research themselves, assist researchers in any discipline, or provide instruction in any aspect of research.
During the first workshop, the instructors present the concept of research integrity and demonstrate its practical applications through engaging case studies focusing on research data. During the second workshop, attendees learn how to build a modular instructional program for students and faculty at their own institutions.
Recognition for Completion | Workshop attendees have the opportunity to earn a letter of recognition for their participation by designing an instructional module for one research integrity topic.

Melody Herr, PhD, Head, Office of Scholarly Communications, University of Arkansas
Dr. Bruce Herbert is Professor of Geology and currently serves as the Director of the Office of Scholarly Communications in the Sterling C. Evans library At Texas A&M University. As Director of OSC, Dr. Herbert is responsible for strengthening the Library’s efforts in scholarly communications and open access through engagement and collaboration with faculty across Texas A&M University.
Melody Herr, PhD, is Head of the Office of Scholarly Communications at the University of Arkansas; she holds a joint appointment with the University Libraries and the Office of Research and Innovation. She conducts research and gives presentations on issues related to scholarly publishing, intellectual property, and research misconduct. Her recent article “Responding to Research Misconduct: A Primer for LIS Professionals” illustrates her approach to the workshop topic.
