The Texas Digital Library (TDL), with our colleagues at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC), are proud to announce a partnership with Portico to support the mission of preserving the scholarly record.
Portico is a community-supported digital preservation service that safeguards access to e-journals, e-books, and digital collections to ensure they remain accessible and usable for future researchers, scholars, and students through a methodology that includes replicas located with trusted partners. Starting in January 2023, Texas Digital Library will host a Portico replica using storage resources at TACC.
“As a community-based provider of digital preservation services ourselves, TDL is proud to support such an important service for preserving scholarly journals and other important e-resources,” said Kristi Park, TDL’s Executive Director. “We look forward to working with Portico and finding new ways to deepen our partnership.”
As one of the leading National Science Foundation-academic advanced computing centers in the country, the partnership makes full use of TACC’s cutting-edge cyberinfrastructure that provides powerful and advanced capabilities.
“TACC has a history of supporting the preservation and dissemination of digital research materials across institutions and disciplines,” said Chris Jordan of the Data Management and Collections group. “We are proud to be involved in this effort to broaden the overall integrity of the Portico digital holdings and look forward to further collaborations in time.”

TDL’s partnership with Portico expands its role as a leading cultural heritage community-based provider of digital preservation services for libraries and archives. In collaboration with its members and partners, TDL provides access to distributed digital preservation storage solutions for library collections, as well as consulting and training for member institutions.
