As a consortium, the Texas Digital Library depends upon the active participation of its members and users to be successful. TDL Users Groups, Working Groups, Committees, and Affinity Groups provide opportunities for member contributions focused on particular services, professional roles, and projects.

TCDL Planning Committee

The TCDL Conference Planning Committee is responsible for coordinating the annual Texas Conference on Digital Libraries (TCDL).

DSpace Users Group

The TDL DSpace Users Group (DUG) works to create an active community among DSpace users that:

  • facilitates mutual support for DSpace use and repository management;
  • identifies areas of work that could be taken on by member working groups or by TDL staff;
  • connects the TDL DSpace user community to the larger open source DSpace community in North America.

Vireo Users Group

The Vireo Users Group (VUG) gathers and prioritizes constituent needs to guide TDL on future development of the Vireo ETD submission and management software. It also provides avenues for the exchange of information about Vireo use and development.

OJS Users Group

The TDL OJS User Group works to create an active community among TDL’s users of the Open Journal System hosting service. TDL’s OJS Users Group is comprised of library liaisons for campus journals and is an exclusive benefit for TDL members only.

Texas Data Repository Steering Committee

The Texas Data Repository (TDR) Steering Committee is the mechanism for local Data Repository Liaisons at TDR member libraries to provide the Texas Digital Library (TDL) feedback and make decisions about TDR services. The purpose of the Committee is to provide strategic planning support and policy oversight to ensure focus and direction of programs and services.

DPLA Users Group

The TDL DPLA User Group consists of representatives of all TDL members participating in TxHub DPLA aggregation. Biannually, it convenes to facilitate connections and collaborations between service users and share updates about TDL’s aggregation service, TxHub, and DPLA. The group also has input into the DPLA local site for TxHub

TDL OER Users Group

The TDL OER Users Group (OUG) encourages the widespread use of open educational resources (OER) across Texas institutions by creating opportunities for open education advocates and practitioners to come together to exchange information and create resources for TDL members and the broader OER community.

The OUG membership is open to representatives from any TDL member institution. The group will generate opportunities for prospective member participation through open quarterly meetings, events, and working groups or projects for anyone working in open education. TDL Members can join the OER User Group by subscribing to the OER User Group email list, or by contacting TDL at info@tdl.org.

Digital Preservation Services Interest Group

The Texas Digital Library’s Digital Preservation Services Interest Group is open to all, regardless of membership in TDL. The group meets quarterly and shares a listserv (tdl-digipres@utlists.utexas.edu) to discuss strategies and share resources as well as plan collective action among Texas institutions. GIS Interest Group

The GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Interest Group gathers both experts and newcomers to the field of GIS. Any users of GIS can join the users group, regardless of affiliation with TDL.

The group shares updates and information about training and events at our monthly meetings and through the GIS Interest Group list.

The mission of the TDL Imaging Group is to create and exchange information on both basic and advanced digital imaging and digitization best practices, in addition to establishing an open and inclusive environment for the exchange of information regionally, within the state of Texas, and surrounding areas.

Web Archiving Texas Interest Group

The Web Archiving Texas Interest Group was formed after the Web Archiving Texas meeting at Baylor University in 2019.

The purpose of the group is to build a community around web archiving in Texas, bring people together to share skills and resources to accomplish shared goals, and amplify our work that impacts the national and and international web archiving community.
