This birds-of-a-feather session is aimed at identifying whether there is interest from other librarians in learning about High Performance Computing (HPC) as a tool for research. The goal is to understand the perspectives and needs of librarians, current levels of comfort with HPC, and any particular questions about HPC. If engagement is high, I plan to develop a workshop that matches the needs identified in this birds-of-feather session, and propose it for a future TCDL conference. Such a workshop could take many different forms. For example, a couple of ideas so far include: focusing on librarians as service providers who recommend resources to other researchers that may benefit from HPC technologies; or focusing on librarians as researchers who may want to understand when and how to take advantage of HPC resources for their own work.
