Lucky for you there are plenty of opportunities for students!
Present
TCDL is a great way get the most mileage out of your capstone project. Submitting a proposal is easy and presenting your project as a poster is a wonderful opportunity for networking with your future colleagues. Posters will be featured at the conference reception and through a “Minute Madness” session, during which presenters will give a 60-second summary of each poster.
More about poster presentations:
- 1-minute (Minute Madness) with 2 slides to present an overview of your topic; and poster session in the evening.
- Easels will be available at the conference site, and foam board will be made available to mount printed posters on.
- During the conference reception, attendees will have an opportunity to view your poster and discuss it with you, so please plan to stay for at least 45 minutes to an hour at the reception.
- TCDL organizers will be unable to provide power for multimedia displays. Additional details about poster requirements will be provided following acceptance.

Attend our Leadership Academy
Our first ever Leadership Academy is taking place this year on May 20th, 2019. Learn about communication, conflict management, negotiation, self-awareness, time management and other skills necessary to help you succeed in the library at this one-day workshop facilitated by UT iSchool’s Diane Bailey. Apply for our scholarship
New this year! We understand that conferences and other forms of professional development in the library world can be expensive and sometimes hard to come by. That’s why Texas Digital Library is excited to offer the 2019 TCDL Student Scholarship. Five students will be awarded free registration for the TDL Leadership Academy as well as TCDL. Application deadline is March 22nd, 2019. Learn more about the scholarship here.
Nominate a deserving student
Did you know there is a Student Excellence Award for students just like you? Well, there is. You should nominate a deserving colleague for a TDL Award (or, nominate yourself!) before February 11th, 2019. It only takes a few minutes to fill out a form. Visit tdl.org/awards to learn more. Winners will be announced at the TCDL 2019 opening ceremony.
Volunteer
Volunteering at TCDL is a great way to become involved with the Texas library and archives community. Aside from meeting potential future colleagues, volunteers are also able to attend several conference sessions. Plus, you get a free registration to TCDL (which includes breakfast and lunch)! STATEMENT OF INCLUSION
The Texas Conference on Digital Libraries (TCDL) invites information professionals working in higher education, public and private libraries, and cultural heritage institutions from all backgrounds and at all stages in their careers. The TCDL program covers topics relevant to the creation, promotion, and preservation of research, scholarship, and cultural heritage digital materials.
The goal of the TCDL is to bring together those working on digital projects — including outreach librarians, repository managers, catalogers, faculty members, technical staff, students, and others — in order to build a practical, usable, and sustainable model for digital libraries.
