Volunteer FAQs

Who can volunteer?
Anyone! We strongly encourage professionals seeking funding support to consider volunteering with us at TCDL!

We have a limited number of volunteer slots available, and we will prioritize accepting those who don’t have institutional funding to attend TCDL.

I’m a MLS/MSIS student? What are my options?
The TCDL planning committee is committed to supporting graduate students and recent alumni and we encourage you to apply for the TCDL Student Scholarship.

What kind of work will volunteers be doing?
Volunteers’ primary role is assisting at the check-in table, but may also be asked to help with loading/unloading (especially during set up and clean up), errands (hanging signs or taking materials to presenters), support moderators in larger sessions, and other duties as necessary.

All volunteers are required to attend a live or recorded virtual orientation scheduled prior to the conference.

How long would I be required to volunteer?
4 hours. This time can be completed all in one day or spread out over the conference week. Volunteer opportunities will be available during the conference, June 2-4, 2026. The volunteer schedule will be made available prior to the conference, and volunteers will have an opportunity to adjust their hours if necessary based on the TCDL program or other commitments.

Why volunteer for TCDL?
Volunteers will receive free conference registration! As full conference attendees, our volunteers will also receive free breakfast and lunch on Wednesday and Thursday, as well as the evening reception on Tuesday.

In addition, volunteering is a great way to learn more about what goes on behind-the-scenes at a conference and an opportunity to connect with TDL staff, conference attendees, and other volunteers.

Check out the TCDL 2026 website for more information about the conference and contact info@tdl.org if you have questions about volunteering!
