Open Ed Week 2024 Member Events

Open Education Week (OE Week) is an annual celebration and opportunity for those working in Open Education to actively share their achievements and learn about what others are achieving worldwide. This year Open Education Week is March 4-8, and TDL member libraries are ready with a set of exciting events and programs.

Open Education Week: Introduction to Open for Teaching, Learning, and Researching

Bring your lunch and learn about Open tools for teaching, learning, and research.

OER and Student Success: A Conversation with UTSA Faculty and Students

In this UTSA Libraries & UTSA Academic Innovation sponsored panel, hear perspectives on open educational resources (OER) from a variety of UTSA stakeholders. UTSA Student Government will share the stresses of textbooks and why OER are a great fit for UTSA students. UTSA faculty will share how they are creating OER for their courses: including motivations for designing and tailoring OER for improved student engagement. You’ll also learn about recent OER work across UT System, as well as platforms and support available to all UTSA faculty adopting or creating OER.

Open Education Week: Finding Openly Licensed Media & Educational Resources for Research, Teaching, & Publication

Come learn how to find and use open access images, video and other open access content, as well as open educational resources including lesson plans and textbooks. Learn how to properly give credit or attribution to copyrighted or open access content and how to give your own creations/designs a creative Commons license. Presentation tips and tech tools that can make your presentations and publications more professional and interesting will be also be covered. Image copyright topics will briefly covered as well.

Bring your lunch and learn how to use Open Pedagogical practices to transform a normal assignment into one that increases student engagement!

Perspectives on OER: Virtual Discussion Panel

THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN LIBRARIES’ OPEN EDUCATION WEEK VIRTUAL FACULTY PANEL

The University of Texas at Austin’s OER Working Group invites you to celebrate Open Education Week (March 4-8) by joining a panel of UT Austin faculty for a virtual discussion on open education practices on Friday, March 8th, at 1pm CST.

Join us for a special Open Education Week discussion on applying open education practices in your teaching. Our panelists will discuss their experiences finding, adopting, and even creating open educational resources (OER) and other no-cost course materials. In addition to this faculty perspective, our panel will also include a student voice. Our student panelist is currently collaborating on an original OER project, and brings valuable and unique insight into how open pedagogy can transform student learning experiences.

This event is free and open to university faculty, graduate students, and staff. However, registration is required. Once you’ve registered, you’ll receive a link to join via Zoom, along with a calendar invitation to download.
