Attention Data Curious, Wranglers, and Wanna-Be Wranglers of TDL!
We would like to extend an invitation to interested members of the TDL community to join our Carpentries Working Group. If you are interested in participating in or just learning more about The Carpentries, please attend the next meeting on Monday, November 15th from 2:00-3:00 pm. Click here to register.
Over the last year, a group of TDR members piloted a membership with The Carpentries, specifically focused on data carpentry. Members of the pilot group attended the instructor training and hosted three Carpentries workshops. The TDL Board has approved a renewal of our membership at the Bronze level, which includes two Carpentries-organized workshops. Any TDL member can register their staff for an instructor training seat for $1,000, skipping the waitlist. Over the next year, we are looking to build capacity across TDL for teaching and hosting Carpentries workshops.
Some of the things the group could work on include:
- Work together to strategize ways to build a more diverse network of instructors in Texas.
- Share teaching strategies and form practice groups.
- Follow up hosted workshops with cohort check-ins
- Create a support network for Texas instructors
- Plan a curriculum of Library Carpentry, Data Carpentry and Software Carpentry for TDL members.
If you are interested in participating in or just learning more about The Carpentries, please attend our next meeting:
